Pretty confident that relaunching a business in a new location, during a pandemic, would not be high on the recommendations of most entrepreneurial gurus.

Having done it, I can see why. Zoom is wonderful for conference calls and quiz nights – not so great for spotting a bench press, or talking pelvic floors with a client you’ve never met face-to-face before.

But life goes on, fitness matters more than ever – and crappy Covid isn’t going to disappear anytime soon.

5 top tips for training in a heat wave!

I know this is a terribly British thing to say but there’ve been far too many, far too hot, days recently.  Since mid-June, minus the odd day or two, it seems like the weeks have melted into one long sticky, sleep deprived, blur.  

 The silver lining to this almost entirely evaporated cloud is that training in the heat is definitely possible and can be a welcome relief to the sun-induced lethargy.  Science has shown that, providing you do it safely, training in the heat can actually help you to up your game.  Here’s a few simple tips to keep you active when all you want to do is collapse into a cold bath:

The frenetic nature of every day life means that I am far too frequently forgetting birthdays, creating diary clashes and finding things in my fridge that belong in the bathroom.  It can also lead me to train lazily, meaning that training sessions are in danger of morphing into a 45-minute plod with no strength and conditioning elements to be found.  After a few weeks of this, I am starting to feel the effects in my (withering) glutes and dodgy knees.
